Peter Ticktin, Senior Counsel

Peter Ticktin received his first law degree in the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, where he had previously attended Medical School for one year, and where he was active as the Minister of Public Relations on the University's Student Counsel and where he ran the Student Police Force as Chief. He began practicing law in Ontario, Canada, as a Barrister & Solicitor in 1972.Within his first year of practice, he defeated the Uniform Summons which caused every misdemeanor in the Province of Ontario that used the form to be dismissed. While in active practice in Ontario, he tried numerous cases and appeared frequently before the Appellate Courts and on one occasion before the Supreme Court of Canada. In the mid-80s, Mr. Ticktin relocated to Florida and commenced his effort to obtain a second law degree which was required for admission to The Florida Bar. He graduated cum laude, was elected into the Order of the Coif (U.S. law school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa Key), received the Gold Scholarship, and ultimately scored sufficiently high on his Bar Exams that the course he took continues to refer to him and his score in its advertising. Since his admission to The Florida Bar in 1991, Mr. Ticktin has appeared in the Federal trial and appellate courts of the Southern District of Florida, the Middle District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Southern District of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Western District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas and numerous state courts, including the trial and appeal courts, and Supreme Court of Florida, the trial, appellate, and the Supreme Court of California, as well as the trial courts of Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and North Carolina. In his general experience, Mr. Ticktin has been a farmer, a builder, and at one time owned and operated small heavy equipment. He was the CEO of a small public company, The Pony Express, and to this day, he puts the emphasis on Business in the category of Business Law for his clients. In the practice of law, he was a leader in the area of HIV litigation and has received a good deal of media attention for his involvement in the odd cases that he handled from monkey bite cases to the intricacies of pharmaceutical products liability cases. He came more to public attention when he won a 2 week trial that was televised on Court TV regarding organ transplants. Mr. Ticktin deals with litigation as a crisis management issue, and aims at relieving the CEO from intricate management of his or her legal issues so that he or she can return to running the business. Mr. Ticktin's practice is centered on representing businesses with creative approaches to achieve the most pragmatically sensible results. Mr. Ticktin is also instrumental in supervising and attending to other work of The Ticktin Law Group, P.A., including Divorce, Real Estate, Personal Injury, NASD and other Arbitrations, and Administrative and other areas of the practice of law.
Jessica Ticktin, Managing Partner
Jessica Ticktin was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada where she lived before moving to the Abacos in the Bahamas with her family. Although she spent the early years of her life abroad, Ms. Ticktin lived in the State of Florida since she was six years old and considers Florida to be her home.
Ms. Ticktin attended Florida State University from which she graduated in 2001 with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Criminology. While in college, she was involved in the law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta, and worked for a local law firm. Her summers were spent working at her father's law firm in Boca Raton. Following college, she attended Stetson University College of Law from which she graduated in 2003.
While in law school, Ms. Ticktin had the opportunity to gain legal experience through a judicial internship in the circuit civil court where she was given the invaluable opportunity of learning the legal system from the inside out. After graduating from law school, she started her career as an associate attorney with her father's law firm which focused mainly on civil litigation matters, including personal injury, contract, corporate, and family law cases.
In early 2005, after handling a variety of cases, she began to focus her efforts solely on family law matters and worked as an associate for a law firm that exclusively handled family law cases. After several years, she became a partner to a prestigious family law attorney in North Palm Beach.
In addition, Ms. Ticktin served as a co-chair on a committee for the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, and is currently a member of the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, and the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, among other committees within each association. In June of 2009, Ms. Ticktin was offered and proudly accepted the position of managing partner of The Ticktin Law Group. She brings a variety of experiences to the firm and joins a select group of dedicated and aggressive advocates for our clients, while working with dedication to accomplish the missions of the firm.
Jamie Alan Sasson
Jamie Alan Sasson is a licensed Florida State Trial Attorney. His background is in litigation where he has successfully litigated and tried many cases in State Court and Federal Court. Jamie has also successfully litigated before the 4th District Court of Appeals. Jamie's concentration is in the area of business law, real estate law, and commercial litigation. Jamie's other areas of practice are in family law, trust and wills, and probate law.
Before joining The Ticktin Law Group, Jamie was an associate at a law firm in Boynton Beach focusing primarily in residential real estate. His experience includes finalizing real estate transactions, representing clients in real estate litigation, buyer and seller representation in complex real estate closings, deposit recovery cases, and contract disputes.
Moreover, Jamie also has an excellent track record in assisting his clients with complex divorce matters, and has tried numerous cases with issues involving real estate, business and asset valuation, equitable division of assets, alimony and child support issues, custody of children, domestic violence, paternity, validity of prenuptial agreements, and modification of prior judgments.
Jamie earned his Bachelor Degree from the University of Florida, and earned his Law Degree from Suffolk University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. While attending law school in Boston, Massachusetts, Jamie clerked with several large business litigation firms in the Boston area.
Jamie is a member of the Florida Bar, Federal Bar for the Southern District of Florida, and the Federal Bar for the Middle District of Florida. Jamie has appeared as a guest host on several radio programs in the South Florida area, discussing the relevant real estate issues in Florida. When not practicing law Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife, participating in athletics, and reading.
Joshua Bleil
Joshua Bleil grew up in a rural town in Western Pennsylvania. He learned the lessons of hard work, and integrity at an early age, and practiced those lessons by earning his Eagle Scout award through the Boy Scouts of America. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a B.A. in English Writing, focusing on Non-Fiction. Josh then continued his studies in San Diego, California where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in Law.
In 2005, Joshua became a member of The Florida Bar and began his career with a law firm in Lake Worth, Florida practicing in fields of family, homeowner and condominium association, criminal, appellate and civil law. In December 2006, Josh became a member of The Ticktin Law Group. Since starting with the firm, Josh's areas of practice have expanded to include transactional, commercial real estate, and business litigation.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Josh enjoys spending an afternoon at the beach, or reading an intriguing book pool side.
Tim Quinones
Tim Quinones was born and raised in the South Florida area. He attended Florida State University where he graduated cum laude with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Tim then went on to earn his Master's degree of Accounting in Taxation from Florida State University, as well. After graduate school, Tim then continued his education at Stetson University College of Law, where he obtained a Juris Doctorate in Law.
Tim was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2007. He began practicing law as an associate with a firm in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. His primary areas of practice include real estate closings, buyer/seller representation, probate and estate planning. Recently his areas of practice have expanded to include mortgage foreclosure defense, transactional law and civil litigation matters for the firm.
Megan Carraher
Megan was born outside of Las Vegas; Nevada in a small town named Henderson, but spent her formative years in Naples, Florida. She played competitive softball in her childhood with notable success, including winning the NSA National Championship, two High School 5A State Championships, and was a runner-up for the Little League World Series.
Megan attended the University of Florida where she earned her B.A. in English. She continued her studies in Boston where she graduated from New England School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in Law. She was actively involved in school, was a member of the Young Women's Advisory Board for the Massachusetts Conference for Women and interned for both the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission and the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General. In 2008, Megan became a member of the Florida Bar and practices law in the fields of family law, foreclosure defense, and general civil litigation.
Jessica VanValkenburgh
Jessica VanValkenburgh was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York. She graduated cum laude from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in History. Jessica then moved to Orlando, Florida where she graduated magna cum laude from Barry University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in Law. During her time at Barry, Jessica was an extern for the Honorable Walter Komanski in the 9th Judicial Circuit, Orange County, Florida. She researched and wrote for the judge on a variety of family law issues, including child relocation law, custody, visitation and alimony, among other areas. Jessica also worked as a research assistant for Professor Patrick Tolan of Barry University School of Law in the areas of environmental law and government contracts. She actively assisted Professor Tolan with several law review and scholarly articles over the course of her law school career.
While at Barry, Jessica was also an active member of the Barry University Law Review. She worked as a Note and Comment Editor her third year in law school, which required extensive editing and research of several articles written by other law review students.
Jessica was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2008. She then immediately joined The Ticktin Law Group and works in our Stuart office. Her practices include mortgage foreclosure defense, general civil litigation and family law.
Satyen Gandhi
A native of Melbourne, Florida, Satyen Gandhi attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and received a B.A. in American History. He then returned to Florida where he earned his law degree from Stetson University College of Law, graduating with honors in 2005. He became a licensed member of the Florida Bar in 2005, and has been practicing since.
Satyen went to work as an Assistant Public Defender in Hillsborough County, where he represented indigent clients in criminal courts. He tried numerous jury and non-jury cases as an Assistant Public Defender. He then went to work for an insurance defense firm in St. Petersburg, handling first party and third party litigation cases, as well as other complex litigation matters.
Satyen joined The Ticktin Law Group in 2008, and works in our Tampa office. His practice includes mortgage foreclosure defense, intellectual property, commercial litigation, and general civil litigation matters. He is fluent in Gujarati.
Kendrick Almaguer
Kendrick Almaguer was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but was raised in the Miami area since a young age. He attended Florida International University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. He then earned his Juris Doctorate in Law from St. Thomas University School of Law. During his time at St. Thomas, Kendrick was a law clerk for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation in the construction law division.
While at St. Thomas, Kendrick became involved in several honors organizations. He was an active member of the Intercultural Human Rights Law Review. Additionally, he was the Vice President of the International Moot Court Honor Society, and represented the organization as an oralist and brief writer in the 2008 Phillip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition.
Kendrick was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2008. Prior to joining The Ticktin Law Group he practiced general litigation, focusing in the areas of family law and business litigation. He currently practices in the areas of mortgage foreclosure defense and general civil litigation in our Miami office. Kendrick is fluent in Spanish.
Benjamin Alexander
Benjamin Alexander was born in Orlando, Florida, but raised on a small farm in Ocala, Florida. Ben received his B.A. in Economics from Florida State University in 2005. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in 2008 and was admitted to the Florida Bar later that year. While attending law school in Tallahassee, Ben became an active member of the local community by volunteering at the Leon County Public Defender's Office and mentoring students who aspired to join the legal field at the Leon County Teen Court.
During his earlier years, Ben was active in both Football and Weightlifting, and acted as assistant coach for the Ladies' Weightlifting team. In Ocala, Ben was active in several community service organizations, while still finding time to raise farm animals, including a prize-winning steer his senior year of high school.
Ben joined The Ticktin Law Group in 2009, and he works in the main branch in Deerfield Beach. His practice includes mortgage foreclosure defense and general civil litigation.
Cody Pflueger
Cody Pflueger is a graduate of Shippensburg. He went on to attend The Penn State Dickinson School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2009. While in law school, Cody worked as a Senior Editor of the Environmental Law Review and as Senior Law Clerk for the Honorable Kevin A. Hess, where he gained invaluable experience researching and drafting opinions on complex civil litigation and criminal matters.
Outside of the classroom, Cody was a member of the Penn State Dickinson Softball team, President of Corpus Juris Society, and Marshall of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Cody also stayed actively involved in his community throughout law school as a mentor in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America program.
Cody Pflueger joined The Ticktin Law Group in December 2009 and is currently working in our Deerfield Beach office. He is a member of The Florida Bar, the Pennsylvania Bar, and the New Jersey Bar.
